DOES PAOLA VAN DER HULST JEWELRY CONTAIN NICKEL?
Nickel is commonly used throughout the jewelry industry as an alloy to make white gold. Paola van der Hulst, however, predominantly uses 18K palladium white gold throughout (click here to read more).

DOES MY WHITE GOLD JEWELRY NEED TO BE RHODIUM PLATED?
Paola van der Hulst proudly employs a palladium-silver alloy that yields a ‘true white’ for our 18K white gold jewelry, making rhodium plating an option rather than a necessity.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY GOLD JEWELRY?
Most gold jewelry can be maintained with a non-abrasive cleaner between professional servicing.

Although please do avoid exposing gold jewelry to household bleach, jacuzzis and swimming pools as it will cause gold to discolor and even disintegrate.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY STERLING SILVER JEWELRY?
Paola van der Hulst uses only sterling silver, which with proper care will retain its beauty and minimize its tarnishing.

Sterling silver always tarnishes, particularly in humid climates and when exposed to salt air and products containing sulfur (such as rubber bands). When used frequently, silver will generally require less care.

We recommend you wash your silver by hand with a mild soap and warm water immediately after use and to dry immediately to avoid spotting.

To polish use only a high quality brand silver polish and avoid “dip” polishes as they contain harsh chemicals. We also discourage the use of electrolytic cleaning (aluminum foil, salt and baking soda in a water base), as it may damage the surface of your piece.

Please note that an “oxidized” finish is the deliberate blackening of the crevices in a silver piece, and it can be removed by overzealous cleaning and polishing.

Once cleaned, keep your silver properly stored in its Paola van der Hulst bags to keep tarnish to a minimum. “Pacific” cloth bags and boxes are also recommended to prevent tarnish while stored.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY GEMSTONES?
Please take care to protect all your jewelry with gemstones from impact against hard surfaces and to avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. All gemstones may chip if hit hard enough or at just the right angle.

Take particular care with amethyst, emerald, kunzite, opal, pearl, peridot, tanzanite and tourmaline as are very delicate and easily abraded.
